The Technology Global Innovation Center (GIC) located in Hyderabad, India will play a key role in shaping and guiding the strategic future of Southwest Airlines through initiatives that affect every aspect of our business and operation. Technology empowers and equips Southwest Employees with the solutions they need to be successful while providing our Customers with tools for a positive travel experience. Our global technology ecosystem

Our Technology Teams* are the engine driving Southwest’s future. They build the tools and databases that keep our planes soaring and craft the applications and platforms that make every customer interaction feel effortless. From behind-the-scenes magic to front-and-center experiences, they’re the masterminds creating smooth journeys for our People and Customers alike.

Architecture
Our Architecture function provides a holistic view and future roadmap for the company’s technical capabilities. It supports foundational technology components across the stack, from front-end applications to cloud infrastructure and everything in between. 
Artificial Intelligence

AI is rapidly transforming how Southwest operates, helping us work smarter and serve Customers with greater ease. Our AI capabilities, from traditional models to emerging agentic tools, simplify complex tasks and elevate the Employee and Customer experience. By pairing innovative technology with human expertise, we empower our People to do their best work.

Cybersecurity
Our Cybersecurity Teams safeguard our systems through cyber defense, cyber engineering, and identity & access management, ensuring that every login, transaction, and interaction is secure and seamless.
Infrastructure Engineering 
Our Infrastructure Engineering Teams' expertise is woven into every tool, system, and experience that keeps our airline running. They deliver secure, reliable, and scalable infrastructure with world‑class availability, empowering the business to meet today’s demands and confidently innovate for tomorrow.
Platform
Our Platform Teams provide streamlined, reliable, and secure foundations for software delivery, cloud infrastructure, and enterprise data. Together, they boost software development velocity and reliability, ensure scalable and cost-efficient operations, and deliver trusted data for advanced analytics and Artificial Intelligence. 
Quality Assurance
Our Quality Assurance function safeguards product quality by defining test strategy and standards. They partner with Software Engineering Teams to measure quality with KPIs, triage defects and root causes, and drive automation to reduce risk and accelerate delivery. 
Software Engineering
Our Software Engineering Teams work with our Business to turn ideas and needs into high-quality, reliable applications that power Southwest–from Customer-facing experiences to mission critical operational systems. 
Technical Support
Our Technical Support Teams ensure that Southwest’s technology runs smoothly by providing expert assistance for systems, applications, and devices. They troubleshoot issues and resolve incidents so our Customers can fly without disruption.
