Technical Operations at Southwest Airlines® has three main pillars: Maintenance Operations, Planning & Performance, and Engineering & Programs. Quality, Compliance & Standards, and Engagement Teams work to support the three pillars. Read on to learn more about the type of work and roles that fall under each of these workgroups

Support

Our Frontline Maintenance Operations positions are supported by hundreds of Employees behind the scenes who work to provide the technical support, program compliance, short and long term planning, reliability, and more. Below are some of the support areas* that are continually growing.
*Most of these positions are located in Dallas, TX.

Engineering

Provide technical consultation, direction, and instructions in order to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient configuration and operation of aircraft while considering all Customer input.

Programs

Define what maintenance needs to be done, when it needs to be done, how it needs to be done, and who needs to do it to satisfy all regulatory, compliance, Reliability, and Safety requirements.

Regulatory Compliance

Responsible for regulatory requirements such as Ops Specification Changes, aircraft certifications/registrations, and aircraft weight & balance.

Aircraft Records

Maintain and validate records of work performed on aircraft. Investigate occurrences of noncompliance to determine root cause and corrective actions, while acting as a liaison between Southwest® and the FAA.
