Tips for completing your employment application

Critical Tips

  • Accuracy is critical (e.g., dates, addresses, phone numbers, etc.). Inaccuracies delay the process and/or preclude you from consideration.
  • Please start gathering your documentation now!

Education

  • List only the highest level of education you have completed and for which you received a diploma or degree. Do not include certification or vocational programs.
  • For high school, home school, and GED, we may require you to provide a copy of your transcripts, diploma, or GED certificate.
  • For associates, bachelors, masters, and doctoral degrees, we may require you to provide sealed official transcripts.

Unemployment

  • Period of unemployment will not necessarily disqualify you, but each period must be disclosed in the application.
  • You may want to consider that any period of time you or your employer were not reporting income (through pay stubs, W2s, 1099s, etc.), may not be verifiable employment.
  • All gaps between periods of school attendance and/or employment (including gaps between seasonal work) must be listed in the unemployment section.

Employment

  • Only list a period of employment if you were reporting for work during that time period.
  • For all employers listed on your application, we may require you to provide pay stubs for every three months of employment, and/or W2s or 1099s for every previous year of employment.
  • If you were working for a temp/contract agency, list the temp/contract agency as your employer and provide their contact information.
  • Private/cell phone numbers are not acceptable for employment verifications.
  • For self-employment, you must provide proof of regular business activity (e.g., receipts, invoices, bank statements, 1099s).

Attending School

  • For verification of school attendance, you MUST provide official or unofficial transcripts. For each semester documented on your application, your transcript must indicate at least one class with a final grade received (incompletes or withdrawals do not qualify as a grade).
